About LIBRARY


The Mangaldai Commerce College Library is located in the ground floor of separate block which is newly constructed. It is the centre of attraction for both the students and the teachers. The library operates under guidance of a library committee that meets regularly and reviews the library functions. Mangaldai Commerce College Library is a modern computerised library with KOHA software through which all the house-keeping operation like acquisition cataloguing, circulation, serial control and Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) were done. We preserved college publication, Books, Magazine, Question Papers, College Prospectus, Ph.D. Thesis, M. Phil dissertations of teachers in our digital library software (D-SPACE). Through N-LIST consortia and NDLI platform, we provide access facilities of e-resources to the teachers and students of our college. The library of our college has been performing various activities from time to time, such as mobile library services, library visit, library books exhibition and reading facilities for the children of under privilege people, book donation to different institutions, observed the National Librarian Day etc. for the benefit of the students, weaker sections and community at large.

LIBRARY ADMINISTRATION

The library has a Library Committee. The library operates under the guidance of this committee that meet 2/3 time yearly and reviews the status and new initiatives. According to the Govt. notifications (No. ASHE.1036/2019/4, Dated- 23/07/2021) of Higher Education Department, Govt. of Assam, the composition of library committee as details as follows for development and smooth management the libraries in provincialize college in Assam.

LIBRARY BUDGETING PROCEDURE

After receiving the requirement of books from different departments, library committee of our college will take the decision for purchasing of books/reference books and how much amount will be spent for the purchasing of books.

LIBRARY RULES

  • Library will remain open from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm on all college working days.
  • Before entering into the library, members have to deposit their belongings, other than notebooks, in the property counter.
  • A member will have to show the library/identity card at the main entrance before entering into the library.
  • Before entering into the library, the gate register is to be signed legibly.
  • Books borrowed by library members may be recalled by the librarian at any time.
  • Borrowers must satisfy themselves about the physical condition of the book before borrowing, otherwise, they will be held responsible for any damage or mutilation noticed at the time of returning.
  • Books will be issued to student members for 15 days, and an overdue charge of Rs. 01/- for each book per day shall be levied on a member if a book is kept beyond the loan period.
  • A member must produce their identity card and readers card at the time of borrowing.
  • The membership card and the readers card are not transferable.
  • No Reference books, Rare books, and Periodicals shall be issued to members.
  • Silence should be strictly maintained in and around the library.
  • Prior permission from the librarian and signing in the registers are required for using the following library facilities:
    • a) Use of the computer (internet) in the digital library section.
    • b) Use of the Kindle e-books reader.
    • c) Use of Reference, Rare, and Holy books.
  • The resources of the digital library should be used only for academic purposes, not for others.
  • Use of mobile phones for the camera, pen drive is strictly prohibited in the digital section of the library.
  • Please drop any suggestions, complaints in the reader's suggestion box or contact the librarian.
  • Mobile phones should be kept in silence mode in the library.
  • Decorum & Discipline should be maintained in the library. Disciplinary actions will be taken against anyone who will be caught practicing unfair activities like spitting inside and outside the library premises, using tobacco products, writing on the walls and reading tables, creating disturbance inside the library, etc.

LIBRARY STOCK VERIOFICATION PROCEDUERE

The stock verification process is carried out in every year. The missing and withdrawing books are to brought to the knowledge of the principal and concern borrowers to replace the same.

WEEDING PROCEDURE

The library materials like books, journals, magazines are being weeded once 5/6 years. It is based on the conditions of such materials (deterioted/damaged), unused conditions. The library committee shall make the decisions for weeding and withdrawn from the accession record register.
